The Zoo

I went to the zoo today. Here are some pictures.

Skateboarding and South Park

Yesterday I was skateboarding home on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. and I was going pretty fast. I noticed there was a slight rise in the concrete about a half inch. I thought I could roll over it, but instead my skateboard stopped and I kept going. I wasn't hurt, but the things in my backpack were. My favorite coffee/tea mug was broken! Sucks. I'm forced to get a new mug. This time I'm going to get a more sturdy mug. Maybe one made of metal and plastic and not clay, or whatever this last fragile mug was made of. Also my computer was rattled. The plastic case came apart a little and when i turned it on there was a clicking noise in the speakers. The noise went away when I turned it on this morning. My iPod was okay too. Last time I bailed on my board (the same way in a different spot) my iPod broke. That sucked. I've since stored my baby in a more protected spot. I think from now on I'm going to leave my computer at home. There are valuable South Park episodes to be downloaded anyway. By the way, I don't know what to think about the season opener when Cartman gets aids and gives it to Kyle. I hope the following episodes are better. Jon told me the newest one with Britney Spears kind of sucks too.

Sport

I've had a sudden burst of interest in local professional sports. My interest in the Isotopes has always been there. But now I found out we have an arena football team. I'm really excited about that. They're called the Wildcats. Their first game is on April 26. I'm going to try and go. I also want to see a Thunderbirds and a Scorpions game. I think the Scorpions season is almost done though.

Video Games and Music

I'm listening to Metric. I'm happy to be off work. They've been asking me to stay late every day since I came back to work on Friday. It's okay with me. I just have to cut down some of my WoW time. That's fine with me though, I play that game too much. What I really want to do is get a Wii and find out a way to connect it to my lap top. I know there's a way to do it, I've heard of people doing it. I want to get Rock Band and a few other Nintendo classics. I'm excited to get back to school tomorrow too. Spring break was fun--as fun as any spring break could be, but it's nice to get back into my routine.

Today I found a band I really like. They're from the UK. They're called Fastlane and I think they totally rock.

Last night I watched Clay Pigeons. It's a really sweet movie if you haven't seen it. It's about this guy Clay (Joaquin Phoenix) who sleeps with his best friends wife and a domino effect of all kinds of horrible things happen. Then all the bad things get intertwined with this guy Lester Long (Vince Vaughn) and things become even worse for Clay. I don't want to give away and plot spoilers. It's definitely an entertaining movie. You can watch for free legally at hulu.com. Or you can Net Flix it and burn it. If I had Net Flix, that's probably what I would do.

Arizona

Arizona used to be part of the New Mexico territory, then the territory was split to make the Arizona territory and the New Mexico territory. I think that's how it happened. Anyway, tonight I hung out with my cousin April. She lives in Surprise, AZ. I guess it's a suburb of Phoenix. This city is so huge. We had fun. We went to a bar here in Surprise and hung out for a bit. I sang A Boy Named Sue by Johnny Cash. Tomorrow I'll put up some pics. I'm on my way so see Jeff in Riverside, CA. I'm having so much fun driving.

Yay, Super Fun Times

I'm a safe driver I promise. I obey the speed limit and I use my turn signal. I don't have a bad temper most of the time but there are a few things that make me a bit angry on the road, one of those things is when people don't use their turn signal. Another thing is when people forget that pedestrians and bicyclists have the right-of-way. Sometimes people make me angry but most of the time things are good.

Here's a video and some pictures I took while driving. I was talking to my mother on the phone at the same time too. I can steer with my knee really well.

Out at Atomic

I had a chance to try out my new camera last night. Joe and I went to see The Oktober People, sadly we didn't stay to see them. I thought I'd get a chance to see them again, and I was crashing from a high dose of caffeine. We did go to Denny's after and I had a Moons Over My Hammy without the hammy with Boca and a water on the rocks. Before Denny's we saw some really good bands from San Francisco. Birds and Batteries had a really interesting sound. They used a laptop with some beat program that added a really cool electronic element. What I thought was the best part of their show was the lap steel guitar. This guy rocked out on the lap steel too. Low Red Land came up next and they were a rock and roll three piece, the best kinds of bands in my opinion. Their last song was acoustic, and they brought out the accordion, and a banjo for this. It was pretty sweet.

Here are some pictures from the night:

Coffee

Horrible, horrible coffee! Yes, I got coffee from a convenience store at 8:30 in the evening. The coffee was probably sitting there for 12 hours. It tasted horrible!! But the good thing is, twelve hours later it's concentrated caffeine. I'm so wired right now. And I have a bad overcooked coffee taste in my mouth, even after rinsing with Listerine. Good times.

25 Inches of New Snow

I should be riding a lift up to the top right now. Dang school and responsibilities! I'll get my chance before the season is over (I hope).

Something totally not related to awesome conditions in Santa Fe- I completely support red light cameras. I went to the town meeting last year when the city was voting on it, and my stance on the issue has not changed. People in Albuquerque are horrible drivers and I don't think the police department can keep all of the crazy drivers in check. If we can have constant surveillance on all the roads all the time then I'd be all for that too. The fact is driving is dangerous, and some people like to make it more dangerous. I drive for my job so I have an opportunity to see some not-so-safe driving every day. I feel like the intersections with the red light cameras are safer, and I'm sure there are stats to support my feeling. People think the cameras are taking away their privacy. Maybe that's right, but I'll give up just a little bit of privacy to avoid someone blasting through a red light and killing someone. The governor signed a bill giving all profits from the red light cameras to the state to support DWI enforcement and I assume other highway and road enforcement and maintenance. Maybe he'll put some of that money toward the Rail Runner. I'd be all for that too. Also, the fine is capped at $75. Before it was a $100 first time fine and I think it went up $100 each time. Whatever, fine me if I break the law. I deserve it.

Colorado Springs

I wish I lived in Colorado Springs!! Yes, Colorado Springs is one of the most mbeautiful cities I've ever been to. That's one reason I'd love to live there, another reason would be all live music. Hit The Lights, Valencia, MxPx... Those three bands alone.
Hit The Lights, by the way, is a freakin sweet band. I just bought This Is A Stick Up...Don't Make It A Murder and I'm loving it!

If You Leave Me Now...

you take away the biggest part of me, oh woo hoo.

That's Chicago. I like it when Butters sings that song on South Park. Funny stuff.

So I miss Velouria a lot. She was my best kitty in the whole world. She was a bit moody when people were around. But I love her. She ran away when I was busy being stupid. I hope she's still alive and I hope she's living with a nice person that feeds her Iams and gives her kitty treats. And I hope she has a nice collar with a bell on it.

I want to get a kitten now that I'm living by myself and things are becoming a bit more steady. It's nice to be greeted by a kitten when I get home from a long day at work. We'll see. I'm going to look into adopting a kitten.

Also, my camera that I thought was fixed isn't really fixed at all. It opens and takes pictures but the pictures have horizontal lines in it. I must have messed something up. I'm not worried though. I was a little disappointed but I figure I need a new camera anyway. I bought a new Sony today online. I can pick it up at Circuit City within the next few weeks. I'm pretty excited. I love taking pictures, and I've been without a good camera for a while now.

Sony DSC-P73

My good ol' trusty camera. I've had this thing for four years at least. When I was in New York it finally quit on me. The lens wouldn't come out. I was sad, but I wasn't surprised. I figured I got my moneys worth because I've had it so long. Tonight though I thought I'd open it up and see if I could possibly fix it. Sure enough.. it's working. I messed with the gears that bring out the lens. I guess they were jammed. I have an extra screw for some reason, but I'm not too worried. The camera is together and working. I hope I can get a lot more pictures out of this thing.

Music I'm enjoying at the moment:
Phantoms by Acceptance
This Is A Stick Up...Don't Make It A Murder by Hit The Lights
This Could Be A Possibility by Valencia

MxPx with an acoustic, lap steel, kind-of-country twist? I love it. Mike Herrera's side project Tumbledown is freakin sweet. Here's the new video from them.
