L.A. Map

Seriously, kudos to Google maps. But it looks like they still have some work to do... I can't wait to see what Google maps are going to look like in ten years! This is downtown L.A., CA. I must say that this would be really fun to drive on.

Google is Nice

It kind of looks like NM...without the ocean.

My Travels

Today I went to Vancouver, BC. I was going to Portland, OR first, but I think I had too many programs open on my computer.

Leadville, or Somewhere

I want to go to the horse races! Do you think those horses are having fun? I know those little men that ride them are slapping them with a leather wrapped stick, but does it hurt the horses? I know that would freaking' hurt if you slapped my leg with that thing, but a horse has fur and is ~5x bigger than I am. I'm sure the horse is fine...PETA would have shut down horse racing by now if it was really bad. Anyway, I really love horses. I've loved horses all my life. According to my dad my third day on this planet earth was spent at the Downs of Santa Fe. My parents owned two different horses. They never won, but I guess one of them got second place one time. My aunt Eleanor and uncle Alex were really successful with their horses..

In a few weeks I really want to go to Leadville, CO. Leadville is the Two Mile High City. It has the highest airport in the country (the Angelfire airport is the third highest). It's really close to Breakenridge, Vail and other really pretty spots. It would also be nice to get out of town for a little while with Lindsey. And darn it, I would love to head out of the country with Lindsey! I need a passport though. I've been so lazy on getting that thing. I want to visit the usually European spots--London, Paris, Madrid--but I'd also like to see some eastern Europe, India, South America.

Some day...

My fingers hurt! It's a good pain though. I played my guitar for about two hours last night. It was pretty rad. Maybe "rad" is the wrong word...I wasn't exactly rocking out. Playing church tunes... But still, playing music is fun. It feels great to be in a rehearsal being bossed around by a music director.

Google Maps

I was looking at Google maps like I normally do on my lunch breaks and I noticed that the satellite took a photo of a small airplane in flight! This is right over some rail tracks in Denver. So cool! I’m also looking at different places using the Google earth plug-in. I can be entertained for hours…

This is a Google earth picture of downtown Albuquerque!

Sleeping Cactus Guy

What is this blog? Well, it's kind of a news page for me and anything that involves my interests. I just had to think about that and define it for myself. Now that I think about it though that's not correct at all. I would say that "news" is something that people other than the auther read and are interested in reading. I would hope that no one reads this blog. I know if I wasn't the person writing this right now, then I would not read this. I'm a bit weird. I like strange thigns, things that no one cares about. On top of that I babble on and on about bull crap. It's okay though, cause I get a lot out of this writting...

I'm in the office at my desk right now. I manage peoples finances and I answer phones and I take verbal lashings from my co-workers. This is not entirely true.

Balloon Fiesta is coming up, and it's still really warm in Albuquerque. I guess the entire nation is experienceing an "Indian Summer" (meaning it's hot when it's supposed to be cooling off). I don't know where this saying came from. Today and tomorrow it's supposed to be record breaking hot. I'm not down. Today I sat in the park under a tree and ate my lunch. (Peanut butter and honey that Linds made me). It was nice and cool outside, but I couldn't help wish that it was cooler, maybe even cold. I can't wait until I can finally see my breath. I remember the first time I was able to see my breath last year. We were living in Santa Fe and it was in October. The first time the average low drops below 32F (0C) is on October 23rd. The first time the average temperature reaches the same point in Minneapolis, MN is October 31st. This is funny, but after it freezes in Minneapolis then it's all down-hill until freaking April. Also, Minneapolis doesn't get above freezing for December, January or February. Actually, Lindsey and I want to head to Minneapolis in December. I looked at ticket prices and they are only $130 round trip including taxes and fees. Hotels are cheap too. I guess there aren't any people who want to visit Minneapolis at this time. I'm down for the cold though. "Oh but you're New Mexican! Doesn't it get hot in the desert? You're not going to be able to handle the cold." Okay, it get's cold in New Mexico...really cold in some spots. The record low in New Mexico is minus50(-50F) in Galivan. That's stinking cold. It's get's cold in the Albuquerque area too...not 15 miles east of me is a 10,000 foot mountain where temps drop below zero every winter. Who would have thought? Yeah! And who is that guy who made the New Mexico post card with the guy wearing a pancho and a sombrero taking a siesta under a saguaro cactus?

It's Cooling Down

I'm taking a deep breath now. Albuquerque... What a funny name for a city. I like it here though, at least for now. Besides Texas, I like the surrounding states. I want to make it to Phoenix soon to visit my aunt and uncle. I'd like to visit Denver soon to see my other aunt and uncle and to see Mike and Jenna. We could visit these two places in one weekend. That's great! I love that. I liked living in Moberly for that reason too. If we had more money at the time I'm sure we would have seen more St. Louis and KC. We saw more KC than St. Louis. That's fine though, KC was right down Lindsey's and my alley. I'd like to head back to the Show Me State soon!

Now it's NM time though. We are doing great in our new apartment. It's really starting to feel like home! Besides the roach problem, everything is gorgeous. We have a back yard, and a porch. It's great. The back yard is great for a dog too which we are getting today. Our little jack russle mix will be ready to pick up today. We're excited! His name will be Diego. That's what we're thinking at least. It may change. I hope Floofy doesn't freak out. Floofy peed on my shoes this morning. Oh man, I was so angry! Little booger! I hope he doesn't pee more that Diego is going to be hanging out. I also hope that Diego is a nice pup. I actually haven't met him. Lindsey saw him at the shelter yesterday and fell in love.

I'll post some photos of Diego later on.

We also have new jobs. That dang coffee shop threw us off a bit, but it was probably necessary for what path life is taking us now. I'm doing accounting stuff at a case managemnt firm and Lindsey is substitue teaching at the kids jail. I am so happy that Lindsey is enjoying her life. I am so blessed to have Lindsey in my life!
